GY6 Ruckus Build Guide

We will guide you step by step through everything you'll need to swap a GY6 into your Ruckus.

START BUILDING

1. Engine

GY6 150cc Engine

The foundation of every GY6 swap build.

Spark Plug

Because the engine comes with Chinese low grade spark plug, it's always a good idea to upgrade the quality so you don't run into any issues. This is a really nice Japanese NGK spark plug.

GY6 Brake Shoes

Because our engine does not come with brake shoes, you'll definitely want to add a set of these to your order.

Gear Oil

Because we ship the engine dry, you will need gear oil. This is pre-measured to the exact amount you will need.

2. Engine Mount

GY6 Skinny Tire Adjustable Mount

Retains factory tire width and includes 8", 10", and 12.5" stretch options.

GY6 Wide Tire Adjustable Mount

This wide tire engine mount comes with 8", 10" and 12.5" stretch options.

GY6 Billet Wide Tire Mount

This CNC billet engine mount gives you that classic wide tire Ruckus 12.5" stance.

GY6 Wide Tire Center Shock Mount

This fully adjustable CNC billet aluminum engine mount with vibration dampening is our top-tier mount.

3. Carburetor

CVK Carburetor

Simple reliable and eco-friendly carburetor setup. This is good for fuel economy, rather than performance.

PWK Carburetor

Performance focused carburetor upgrade. Best bang for your performance buck.

FCR Carburetor

As far as carburetors go, this is by far the best choice for performance. In short, this is a PWK style carburetor with an accelerator pump.

Electronic Fuel Injection Kit

This is the top-tier option. No carburetor tuning, 100% plug and play. All the performance with none of the jetting hassle.

4. Clocking Flange

150cc Basic Flange

If you need a simple, budget-friendly way to level your carburetor, this clocking flange gets the job done.

Pro Flange

This levels the carburetor/EFI. Fully adjustable leveling clocking flange. Fits 150cc - 232cc engines with its larger intake diameter.

Tall 2 Piece Flange

This levels and raises the carburetor/EFI. Fully adjustable, fits 150cc - 232cc engines with its larger intake diameter.

5. Harness

20 Minute Harness

This is by far the quickest and easiest way to wire up the GY6 on your Ruckus. This is simply an adapter harness. You would choose this option if you plan on running a carburetor.

EFI Harness

This is by far the quickest and easiest way to wire up an EFI GY6 into your Ruckus. This is simply an adapter harness. You would choose this option if you plan on running Electronic Fuel Injection.

MetRuck Harness

This is by far the quickest and easiest way to wire up the GY6 on your MetRuck. This is simply an adapter harness. You would choose this option if you plan on running a carburetor on your MetRuck.

Tuck Harness

This harness is designed for show-quality and simplicity. This is a full harness solution, rather than an adapter harness.

Lithium Scooter Battery

Although you may already have a battery, the GY6 requires a lot more amps to turn over. This is the battery we recommend.

6. Throttle Cable

CVK Cable

This cable is designed for stretched Ruckus builds running a CVK carburetor.

FCR/EFI Throttle Cable

This cable is designed for stretched Ruckus builds running our EFI system or FCR Carburetor.

7. Brake Cable

Extended Brake Cable

Required for stretched GY6 builds running a drum style brake.

Cable Clocker

If you choose a wide tire drum brake option, definitely add this cable clock. This will keep the cable away from the rear wheel in a nice stylish way.

8. Shock

Lowered Shock

If you're going for that low wide look on the rear end, you will want this lowered rear shock.

Stock Height Shock

If you're going for that OEM non-stretched skinny tire look, choose this shock. This will not work with a wide tire rear wheel.

Center Shock Mount Shock

If you're going all out with our billet CNC center shock mount, you will need to add this shock. This is custom made for our center shock mount.

9. Rear Hub

FLP Drum Hub

This rear drum brake hub is a must with any GY6 swap when running a drum brake on the rear. This will allow an aftermarket wheel to be mounted to your GY6.

M10 x 1.25 Lug Nuts

The drum hub has two options for lugs, M10 or M12. Depending on the wheel you choose, you will need to choose the corresponding lug nut size. The most common size is M12.

10. Kickstand

Billet Kickstand

This is a very nice choice if you don't plan on lowering your Ruckus. If you chose a skinny tire setup, you will most likely want this kick stand. This will not work with a lowered Ruckus.

Lowered Kickstand

This is a traditional under-the-left-peg kickstand. One disadvantage to this option is the potential for scraping during hard cornering.

CVT Kickstand

This is a great option for lowered Ruckus builds. The only disadvantage is that it's difficult to flip out compared to the other options, but it won't scrape during hard cornering.

11. Exhaust

ProBld Exhaust

Affordable hand tig-welded premium GY6 exhaust with carbon fiber muffler.

Yoshimura Carbon

This is the top-tier option for exhaust on a GY6. Full hand tig-welded header with premium Yoshimura carbon fiber muffler with a more 'bassy' sound.

Yoshimura Raw

This is the top-tier option for non carbon fiber fans. Full hand tig-welded header with premium Yoshimura raw muffler with a more 'tingy' sound.

O2 Sensor Reducer

If you chose to run an EFI system and one of our exhaust systems, you will need this reducer.

Baffle

If you chose one of our ProBld non Yoshimura exhaust systems and want to quiet down the noise level, add this baffle.

Exhaust Gasket w/ Studs and Nuts

This is a must for any GY6 swap. You're going to need exhaust nuts and a gasket.

12. Wheel

3-Piece Custom Wheels

This is the top tier choice for wheels. If you want a perfectly true and stylish CNC wheel set, this is the ticket.

Skinny Wheel

If you chose a GY6 skinny wheel engine mount, this rim is perfect. It will replicate the stock look of the ruckus, and also allow the stock tire to be mounted to it.

Solid Wide Tire Wheel

If you're balling on a budget and you chose a wide tire engine mount, this is about as cheap as you're going to get for a rear wheel on your Ruckus.

13. Tire

Wide Tire for 12" Fatty Rim

Choose this tire if you're running a 12x8 fatty rear wheel.

12"/13" Front & Rear Tire Bundle

Choose this tire set if you are purchasing a custom set of wheels.

Stock Tire

If you chose a skinny engine mount and are going for that stock look and don't want to use the stock tire off your old wheel, this is a direct replacement.

Tire Valve Stem

New wheels do not come with valve stems, it's a good idea to add them if you're buying new wheels.
