Its purpose is straightforward: it repositions your intake so the carburetor sits at the proper angle, helping prevent it from contacting the frame. If you're putting together a basic GY6 build and don't need all the extra features, this is about as affordable and simple as it gets.

Please note: This flange is sized specifically for a stock 150cc intake. If you're planning to install a big bore kit in the future, you'll want a larger clocking flange instead.
