If you own a Honda Ruckus from 2002-present there is a good chance you need more powa! We can relate. Brand new, the Ruckus is gutless. The good news is it’s pretty easy to unlock the power hidden inside that little 49cc motor. We have come up with 5 performance stage kits to choose from, based on your budget and needs. Keep in mind, in our opinion the very best solution would be a GY6 150cc swap, but if you want to keep the stock motor this is how to wake it up! Nobody likes struggling with parts and installation. We provide everything you need! One purchase. Zero surprises. 

Stage 1:

Back when we did mobile repair and maintenance we worked on a lot of Ruckus’s. The most common question we would get is: “Can you make this thing faster?” This stage 1 kit was our go to! The hundreds of times we installed this kit we never had a customer disappointed.

To start, we install 5g Dr. Pulley Sliders. Because they are lighter rollers than stock and their special shape, they will raise the overall engine RPM resulting in much much better acceleration! This is great, but the issue is the factory rev limiter is hit a lot easier actually making the scooter have less top speed. That’s why we included our Performance CDI coil combo. This unit will delete the rev limiter and advance the timing, resulting in better acceleration and better top speed. Although it’s a rare case with this set up, there is a possibility of needing a re-jet the carburetor. We included a 9 piece jet kit. The only reason a re-jet is possible, is the performance ignition coil burns the fuel much much better than stock, resulting in a lean condition (not enough fuel). The final piece of the puzzle for this stage 1 kit is the dipstick breather. This simply relieves the crank case pressure, resulting in better performance across the board. Think of pouring water out of a jug (glug, glug, glug), then poke a hole in the bottom of the jug. Now the water flows with no glug, glug, glug. This is the analogy of the dipstick breather. The motor can breath!

In short, our stage 1 kit is easy to install and will give you a lot more acceleration and top speed. This is the perfect kit for any beginner.

Stage 2:

is a nice little bump over the stage 1. We include everything from the stage 1 kit, but remove the sliders and replace them with a complete NCY performance CVT super transmission kit. This kit will upgrade your clutch, pulley,  contra spring, belt, variator and rollers to a performance based set up. This kit has a more aggressive variator, a lightweight drive face and a set of 5, 6 & 7 gram rollers. We install the clutch onto the performance pulley with the 1k rpm contra spring so you won’t have to. This will save you $ on the tools you would need to do it your self. The clutch is nice because it has much bigger clutch pads than the stock clutch. Its a lot more aggressive, it grabs! The clutch bell has holes drilled to keep it cool, so it doesn’t warp. All of the CVT tuning has already been calculated and put into this kit. Piecing a clutch and variator kit together is always time consuming to get right. We add a nice Polini belt so you won’t have to worry if yours is worn out. The only thing you have to do is install the correct variator rollers (included) based on your body weight. 

150lbs or less use 7g rollers

150-200lbs use 6g rollers

200lbs + use 5g rollers

If you want the most power out of your ruckus without messing with the factory exhaust and air box this is it!

 Stage 3:

Now let’s get into the meat and potatoes! The stage 3 kit comes with everything from the stage 2 kit. But in this kit we are adding a performance exhaust, doing an airbox delete along with a pair block off plate. This is where the real magic starts to happen. More air in + more air out = more performance. The factory air box is pretty dang restrictive, we remove the air box completely allowing more air to flow in. We include a 90 degree silicone hose and free flowing Uni pod style filter. Finally the engine can breathe! Imagine running a marathon with your hand over your mouth. If you have more air coming in you certainly want more air going out. The performance Yoshimura exhaust system does just that. But is also looks sweet and sounds mean! This exhaust has a low throaty sound that makes riding even more fun! Because we are adding a lot more air into the carburetor, the fuel will need to be matched. You will need to rejet the carburetor with the included jets. The final step is our pair block off plate. This just cleans the the motor up and is purely a cosmetic upgrade so you don’t have an extra hose just chillin. Stage 3 is great way to add a lot of power over stock! It’s important to note, it will take some trial and error to get your fuel jets correct. Here is a good base tune to go off of.

STAGE 3 INCLUDES:

Stage 4:

Stage 4 is exactly like stage 3, except in this stage we are pulling that stock 15mm cvk carburetor out and installing a 19mm CVK carburetor with an accelerator pump. What does this mean for you? DUH! More performance :-). This new 19mm CVK carburetor comes with the airbox delete jets and uni pod filter. We even include and adaptor to make the choke plug in to the stock harness. The intake manifold on the stock ruckus is 20mm. Rember the stock carburetor is only 15mm, not to mention the stock carburetor has coolant running through it to warm the bike up faster. Hot air in an intake kills performance. We include a hose to bypass that. The stock carburetor is another restriction we need to pull out to get max performance! Not only is the new 19mm PWK carburetor bigger, it has an accelerator pump. The stock carburetor didn’t have this. This will improve the acceleration from a dig! Because it’s a CVK carburetor it has a diaphragm. CVK carburetors are very easy to tune in comparison to a slide style carburetor. We install the proper jets to start, in hopes you won’t have to do any re-jetting. This is a great kit that will increase the performance in a major way and is easy to tune.

Stage 5:

Stage 5 is FIRE!!! This is as good as it’s gonna get without going into the internal motor. This kit has everything the stage 4 has, but in this kit we remove that 19mm CVK carburetor and add our ProBld 20mm PZ carburetor. Why would we do that? This is simply the best carburetor choice with all the performance for this platform. What makes this carb different from the 19mm CVK is it’s a 20mm, it matches the intake part on the motor. This is huge for flow rate. There is no step down for air turbulence. But the main reason this carburetor wins over the CVK carburetor is it’s a slide style carburetor. If you notice on all CVK carbs there is a diaphragm with a butterfly valve inside the throat of the carburetor. When you open the butterfly you will see a big slide in the way. The slide works with velocity. Meaning, when you pull the throttle back you then have to way for the air to be sucked into the carburetor to raise the slide. This is horrible for performance and acceleration. The slide carb is perfect! You pull the throttle back, you get all the beans. No waiting for a diaphragm to raise. The acceleration on these carbs are nuts in comparison. Much much more aggressive. There is a trade off though. These slide style carburetors are a lot more difficult to dial in. But once you get it, it’s worth it in a major way. The cool thing is we have a lot of experience with this carburetor. We install the proper jets to start, in hopes you won’t have to re-jet. Not only that we install the cable and set the needle along with attach the filter and intake manifold. When you get this carburetor it’s ready to be installed. So if you want the most performance possible with bolt on parts this is it! You won’t be disappointed :-) but if you want more, we also offer our GY6 150cc swap :-).
